Privacy Policy

Kora is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with Cameroonian law, including Law No. 2010/012 on Cybersecurity and Cybercrime. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register on Kora, we collect your full name, email address, phone number (including MTN or Orange mobile number), and password. Resellers additionally provide their store name, city or town within Cameroon, and a brief description of their business.

Identity Verification

For reseller accounts or high-value transactions, we may collect a copy of your Cameroonian National Identity Card (CNI), passport, or other government-issued identification, in compliance with applicable know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.

Order & Transaction Data

We collect details about the products you purchase, delivery addresses within Cameroon, Mobile Money transaction references (we do not store full payment credentials or PINs), and order history.

Location Data

We collect your town, city, and delivery zone within Cameroon to calculate delivery fees and assign logistics partners. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates without your explicit consent.

Device & Usage Data

We automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, and time spent on the platform to improve performance and security, in accordance with Law No. 2010/012 on Cybersecurity.

Communications

If you contact our support team or submit a ticket, we retain those messages to resolve your issue and improve our service. Support communications may be in English or French.

How We Use Your Information

Order Fulfillment

We use your name, phone number, and delivery address to process and deliver your orders within Cameroon. This information is shared with our logistics partners solely for delivery purposes.

Mobile Money Processing

Your mobile phone number is used to facilitate MTN MoMo and Orange Money transactions. These transactions are processed by the respective mobile money operators, who are regulated by the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) and the Cameroonian Ministry of Finance.

Account Management

Your email and password are used to authenticate your identity and maintain your account. We send transactional messages (SMS and email) such as order confirmations and password resets.

Platform Improvement

Usage data helps us understand how customers and resellers interact with Kora so we can fix bugs, improve features, and personalise your experience.

Legal Compliance

We may process your data to comply with applicable Cameroonian laws and regulations, including tax obligations to the Direction Générale des Impôts, anti-money laundering requirements under GABAC directives, and court orders from competent Cameroonian courts.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

Logistics Partners

Delivery agents operating within Cameroon receive your name, phone number, and delivery address to complete your order. They are contractually prohibited from using this data for any other purpose.

Mobile Money Operators

MTN MoMo and Orange Money transactions are processed by their respective operators, which are licensed and regulated in Cameroon. Kora does not store your mobile money PIN or full account credentials.

Government & Regulatory Authorities

We may disclose your information if required by a valid court order from a competent Cameroonian court, a request from a government authority such as the Direction Générale de la Recherche Extérieure (DGRE), or to comply with mandatory legal obligations under Cameroonian law.

No Data Sales

Kora does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third-party advertisers or data brokers under any circumstances.

Cross-Border Transfers

If your data is transferred outside of Cameroon (e.g., to cloud service providers), Kora ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable Cameroonian data protection requirements.

Data Retention

Active Accounts

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services.

Account Deletion

If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by Cameroonian law.

Financial Records

Order and payment records may be retained for up to 10 years to comply with Cameroonian financial and tax regulations, including obligations under the General Tax Code (Code Général des Impôts) and OHADA accounting standards.

Legal Proceedings

Data relevant to ongoing legal proceedings or disputes may be retained until the matter is fully resolved, in accordance with applicable Cameroonian procedural law.

Your Rights

Rights Under Cameroonian Law

Under Law No. 2010/012 on Cybersecurity and Cybercrime and applicable Cameroonian data protection principles, you have the right to access, correct, and in certain circumstances delete your personal data held by Kora.

Access & Correction

You can view and update most of your personal information directly from your account profile page at any time. For data not accessible through your profile, contact us at contact@kora-cm.shop.

Data Portability

You may request a copy of your personal data in a structured, readable format by contacting our support team.

Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations under Cameroonian law. Submit a request through our Help Center or contact us directly.

Opt-Out of Marketing

You can unsubscribe from promotional emails and SMS messages at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing communication we send.

Complaints

If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with the relevant Cameroonian regulatory authority or seek redress through the competent courts of Cameroon.

Security

Technical Safeguards

All data transmitted between your device and Kora is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text, in compliance with security standards referenced in Law No. 2010/012 on Cybersecurity.

Access Controls

Access to personal data is restricted to Kora staff who need it to perform their job functions. All access is logged and audited.

Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and, where required, the relevant Cameroonian authorities, within a reasonable timeframe of becoming aware of the incident, in accordance with applicable Cameroonian cybersecurity obligations.
